HHS's Leon Smith named 2025 PA Teacher of the Year
Mr. Smith's selection out of 660 nominations was announced at the Pennsylvania Department of Education’s annual
professional development conference, the SAS Institute, in Hershey, PA this past Monday.
“Mr. Smith perfectly exemplifies what it means to be an excellent educator, and his commitment to his school is making a lasting impact on his students, their families, and the surrounding community,” said Interim Acting Secretary of Education Angela Fitterer.

Double-whammy: property taxes going up
The Haverford
Township Board of Commissioners unanimously approved the 2025 budget on Monday, December 9, which included a 3.4% increase in real estate taxes, or $52 on average.
"Great care was taken to look at this budget and do everything possible to both be responsible for our expenses but also be considerate of what an increase would be," said Commissioner Kevin McCloskey.
